2016 Tournament Results

11/27/16 Lake Shelbyville - Open

23 boats showed up to participate in our club's last tournament of 2016. While most of us were floundering around in the mid to high four pound range, there are always a few teams that find a way to separate themselves from the pack. Weights in the upper fives to lower 6's would have won most of the tournaments held on Shelbyville this year. This tournament took over 6 pounds just to get a check. We finally got a couple of weights over 7 pounds and they were provided by two of the toughest teams that compete on Shelbyville.

11/12/16 Clinton Lake - Club

A terrific and almost windless day greeted 22 anglers for our last club tournament of the year. My goodness, WHAT A BITE!! Lots of 12" fish were being caught. Neat thing is, there seems to be fish being caught in 2' of water and 20' of water. Anyway, many of our teams reported catching 40-60 fish and a large percentage of these fish are keepers. Problem for tournament fishermen is that many of these fish are the same size as you can see by the tournament results.

10/29/16 Lake Shelbyville - Club

With water surface temperatures still in the 60's, our teams found those Shelbyville crappie to be small and stubborn. Throw in a steady 15 mph south wind and things just get tougher. We still had 14 teams workin' their butts off trying to bring their best 7 to the scales. Best area seemed to be north of the Wilborn Ramp and 6-8' of water was the most reported depth. Fish were caught on 1/8th ounce jig heads with darker color bodies.

Thanks to every team that came out to support the club. Also thanks to several new members that signed up and were willing to give the club a chance this late in the season

Once again, our club paid out 100% ($560.00) to 50% of the field, so 7 teams got at least their entry fee back.

6/4/16 Lake Shelbyville - Club

The club held it's final event of the spring on Saturday, June 4th.  Hats off to seventeen tough fisherman that fought through 5 hours of cold pouring rain to support the club and provide fish for the fish fry.

Thanks to all of our members that came out on a lousy day and supported the club.  These are the types of people that make our club special.  Special thanks to all the members that donated prizes, food, and most of all, their time.  This event would not have been a success without the extra effort from Greg Foley (purchased all the condiments and extras),  Andy Roberts (cook's helper), and especially, Scott Phillips.  Scott was the picnic coordinator and he did everything from running to Springfield to pick up donations from Joe Schrader at Steak & Shake, to hauling all his fish frying equipment to the pavilion and frying that delicious fish we ate.  By the way, in his spare time, Scottie along with his wife Erika, keep us all informed on the website, Facebook, etc, etc.etc. If you see Scott or Erika, make sure you thank them.  COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT THEM!!!!!  Also thanks to Louis Jordan who helped with the cooking, and Kimmery Abbott who helped with the weigh-in.

5/14/16 Lake Shelbyville - Open

The Central Illinois Crappie Club hosted it's 1st Open Tournament on Lake Shelbyville on Saturday, May 14th out of Bo Wood ramp. 23 teams competed for almost $1400.00 total prize money including over $500.00 to win 1st place. Some real quality teams took on Shelbyville's fickle crappie and what has lately become a standard 30 mph wind. All of the teams showed great determination using a wide variety of fishing tactics to bring fish to the scales.

118 fish caught @ 86.69# for a 0.73# average.

Congratulations Teams and thanks for showing up on a miserable morning!!!!

5/7/16 Lake Shelbyville - Club

Last Saturday, club members enjoyed a terrific day on Lake Shelbyville. Fourteen boats slugged it out for bragging rights. Team weights were really close as usual and a few hundredths of a pound made a big difference. Our top weights were 5.05, 5.01, and 4.99. That alone points out how important it is to weigh your very best fish!!!!

We would like to express our club's appreciation to all of our members new and old. We have a great club made up of the right people and it is a pleasure to associate and fish alongside everyone!

As a reminder - We are having our Shelbyville Open next Saturday 5-14-2016. Please tell everyone you know about this tournament and let's get the numbers up!!

Summary:
28 Participants in 14 boats
Average fish weight was .598#

What an exciting Saturday for crappie fishing on Lake Decatur! The fishing was tough for some while others said they caught over 40 fish throughout the day. Some good number were put on the board and everyone seemed to have a fun time. This shows that Decatur still has some good crappie….

26 Participants in 14 boats

75 fish weighed in

4/9/16 Clinton Lake - Open

What an outstanding first tournament of 2016 for the Central Illinois Crappie Club. The sun was shining, and everyone was excited to kick off the Crappie tournament season. Takeoff was a little chilly, but it warmed up throughout the day while the wind was very manageable to fish in.  It took over 5 Lbs. to make the winners circle, but it looks like everyone caught fish. I would like to thank all of the CICC members and guests that participated in the event!

Total Fish Weighed: 125

Total Weight:  79.45#

Weight Guess 50/50:  Fred Brozio, 6.10#

BIG CRAPPIE: Dave Nugent/Steve Zehr, 1.57#

Highlights from the participant shakedown.

Most of the winners were fishing jigs in water 5' or less in the area between the hot ditch discharge and the 48 bridge. Water temps in that area were mid-sixties and up.
